Allow more than 4 tracking operations per day
Software such as Mobile Defense allows for a live view of the phone's location (ie. actually shows it moving live)
There is no such facility in WaveSecure, and with a limit of 4 tracks per day, this is quite an issue if the phone or thief is on the move.
Why can't we have either live tracking or a larger number of tracks each day?
I have a feeling that privacy could be an issue here, but we have to validate our phone number to use the software, so it's evidently our phone being tracked.
And I would hope this… more

Have a boot up lock
There are people who might want to return the phone or people who are intimidated by the lock and might return it.
The boot up lock should come in before anything else loads like a bios lock. This should have the current user's info & alternate contact details to make the phn returnable.
What happens if someone reboots into factory settings?220 votesunder review ·

Doing it like a BIOS is near impossible on commercial phones since apps don’t have access to that kind of functionality.
However, what we CAN do is to have the phone lock when it starts up. Currently we only have the option to automatically lock when the SIM is changed. We could add this as a setting. Pls vote it up if you think it should be implemented.

Allow the user to set a custom alarm sound
The current default alarm sound could cause a panic in the wrong situation. I think it would be better if I could use my own sound; for example, a recording that says "This phone is stolen property.". It would be nice to be able to record and/or upload an mp3 on the wavesecure website.

Autobackup for Android
Currently there is no way for users to set their data to automatically back up to the server (like our other platforms). The users should be able to choose between hourly, daily and weekly autobackup.

The chief concern is performance during the autobackup. We’ve started on this and we’re investigating the performance hit over the next few weeks.

Hide WaveSecure, change its app name and icon
I'm experimenting with another and similar security application called Mobile Defense http://www.mobiledefense.com/.
One good feature which Mobile Defense has but Wave Secure lacks is that after you install Mobile Defense and reboot your phone, application is no more visible. Even if you go to settings and choose "Manage Applications" - it is not there! So, if a phone is stolen, a thief cannot know that he is tracked.
On the other side, it means that Mobile Defense could only be operated from a computer, while Wave Secure could be used on a phone to initiate backup, etc.
Personally, I… more117 votesunder review ·

Interesting idea!
We have been looking for ways to prevent an unauthorized removal of WaveSecure.
Hiding its presence is one possibility.

Restore call logs
If you let people backup the calls log, you should let them restore it as well. seems logical, no?

If I lose my phone and the thief formats/hard resets my phone, will WaveSecure still work?
Can I still track my phone and lock/wipe it remotely?

WaveSecure is a software that is installed on your phone. Just like any other software, WaveSecure is removed from your phone when the phone is hard reset and you cannot perform remote functions.
However, upon hard reset, your data is also erased and cannot get into malicious hands and (hopefully) you have a backup on your data on the server, which you can restore to your new phone
That said, we are working on solutions to make WaveSecure hard reset proof, when it is part of the ROM. We have released a version of the Android application that will persist the activation state, lock state, users’ PIN etc and the phone can be tracked even after the hard reset.
We are working on developing this for other platforms. For information on how the hard reset proofing works, visit our blog at http://blog.tencube.com

Local Time Zone and Date format
One additional feature we can have in this application, for setting up local time zone, the times shown on website are not in sync with the local timezone of the cell phone. This may prove problematic to submit the evidence to Police, if required.
We can have a feature of setting up time zone of cellphone on the website, so that the logs shown on website are in the same time zone.

The time zone currently shown on our server is GMT -5 hours. We realize that most of our users are not in that time zone so it makes sense to show local time zone for each user :)

Autolock after inactivity for user-specified time period.
Let the user specify a time period of inactivity after which WaveSecure locks the phone which can be unlocked with the pin.

WaveSecure for iPhone?
Please come up with a version for the iPhone

WaveSecure currently supports Symbian, Windows Mobile and Android platforms. We are currently developing for the BlackBerry and will be out with a version for BlackBerry soon.
WaveSecure requires access to lower level device functionality such as the ability to start on boot, run in the background etc. Currently, the iPhone SDK does not allow third party applications to run in the background, along with a bunch of other stuff that WaveSecure needs to run properly on the iPhone!
So unfortunately, WaveSecure cannot support the iPhone as of now unless Apple opens up more functionality that will enable us to build WaveSecure.

Silence SMS Commands
I know there was a similar request which was "declined" previously, citing by the admin as being technically impossible on an Android phone.
This is not the case.
Check out the TotalCare+ program (http://advantal.net/totalcare/) which allows remote control of the phone via SMS without ever showing the sms commands on the phone.

Disable the power button when the phone is locked
When you press the power off key it give you the option to turn off the phone. it should be deactivated.

Disabling the power button is technically useless because the battery can always be pulled out to power off the phone. However, we’re looking at how we can trap all the hardware keys (including the home key) to improve the security of the lock

Remove WaveSecure Lock Screen Logo: Just Display Message
Basically the thief should be keep guessing and should not know which software solution is denying access.
This way he cannot search for the loopholes of say wave secure (guessed otherwise from lock screen) on internet and actually bypass ALL security checks. (No network/flash ROM/empty sim).
Of course maybe the phone is already useless for him, but by this the probability of him making mistake and WaveSecure getting Track of the phone Increases
And maybe user can also get his phone back.31 votes
